Shemford Doon celebrated its Annual Day of the primary grades amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation on 20th November , 2017.
Pandit Rajendra Prasanna, the renowned flute artist, mesmerised the audience today in Shemford Doon.
Organised under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, the programme began with the formal introduction and welcome of the performing artistes, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the school’s Chairman, Mr. Vijay Nagar, Director, Mr. Shailendra Benjamin, Principal, Dr. Geeta Shukla and Pt. Rajendra Prasanna.
The recital began with the artist explaining the basics and the nuances of playing the tabla and asking the students to accompany him with the beats. He then presented a composition in Raga Ahir Bhairava on teen taal. Pt. Prasanna then played two tunes, one on a Pahadi raga and the other being “Vaishnava Jana to Tene Kahiye”, which was accompanied by the students of the school singing the bhajan with him. He concluded his performance with “Saare Jahan se Achcha”, the children singing the song along with him.
The programme concluded with presentation of mementos to the artistes and a vote of thanks by the school’s Director, Mr. Shailendra Benjamin.
