India’s 69th Republic Day was celebrated in the School on January 26. The programme began with the unfurling of the Tricolor by the Chief Guest Mr. Umesh Chandra Dhyani, the sitting judge of the Uttarakhand High Court. This was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest dwelt on the importance of the Indian Constitution and its finer points.
The programme also included a speech by Aarushi Gupta, three group songs- “Hind Desh ke Niwasi..”, Chhoro Kal ki Baatein…” and “Mera Joota Hai Japani…”- recitation of a poem “Mera Desh” and performance of a play on the Fundamental Rights enshrined in our Constitution. A medley of dances by the School’s Kathak Club on songs from various parts of the country had the audience spellbound.
The Chairman, in his spirited speech, exhorted the students to abide by the provisions of the Constitution. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Director, Mr. Shailendra Benjamin, followed by distribution of sweets.
